Lafayette IN - November, 23 2007. Despite ongoing road construction which included several key closures and detours for every road leading to the State Road 26 East location, Lafayette's Local Mountain Coffee Café has enjoyed significant growth and garnered many loyal customers in its first weeks of operation. Open for nearly 6 weeks now the community response has been warm for the business in a time when the weather has been getting chilly. "We have been very pleased by the positive response we've gotten from the community", stated co-founder Ric Brown. "Given the construction over the last few weeks our customers have really had to go out their way to get to us. We have established a regular group of customers that have made the additional effort to get through the detours, and they have also brought family, friends and co-workers to check us out."
A little coffee break..: Taking some time away from shopping on black Friday...Customers feedback through satisfaction surveys both in person and on-line report they are quite satisfied with the service, food and drink quality and the competitive pricing of the menu. Some of the most popular items have been Meleah's Madness, the White Powder Mocha and the triple chocolate Hot Chocolate. "Our selection of drinks and wide offering of flavors has been popular and our patrons have appreciated our effort to focus on bringing in some of the best from local suppliers" Brown added. Local Mountain Coffee has worked to find local talent and offer the fruits of their craft. For example, most of the baked goods offered in the Lafayette location are made at the Flower Mill Bakery near Rossville and the many flavors of Biscotti are provided by Brunoscotti, which is based in Lafayette.
We're Open! The setting has proven to be very appealing to the coffee café patrons, providing ample seating with a quiet and comfortable atmosphere to visit, peruse the paper or spend a little time on your laptop using the free wireless internet connection. There are also many interesting items to look at and purchase provided by another local favorite, One Earth Gifts and Gallery.
The current hours of operation are 6am to 6pm Monday - Friday, 7am to 6pm on Saturday and 8am to 6pm on Sunday. Just after the first of the year the owners are considering adding additional hours in the evening as well as some other enhancements. "Our initial focus is to make sure we are doing the fundamentals of the business very well: great service, great products and an inviting atmosphere.
Ric servingNext on the agenda is to add soups, salads and sandwiches during the current business hours. From there we are considering the addition of a dessert and coffee hours for Friday and Saturday nights and as well as offering live entertainment. We expect to offer Gelato in the spring."
