Not all that long ago, businesses thrived in a community not because they had some trendy new product but rather because the community needed them to help the community attain the lifestyle they wanted to live. They served a community need and made life better for themselves, for their customers, and really, for everyone. Take the local sawmill as an example. Everyone needed lumber to build homes, barns, businesses and even outhouses. Everyone could have cut their own lumber, (and some did), but it just made more sense for there to be lumber 'experts' who could do it faster and specialize in making a variety of lumber products available that many folks could not do on their own. It was not about eye-poping margins, investor relations or making millions. It was about seeing a need and filling that need. When something for the community needed to be done, the business knew they had a responsibility to help make sure that it was taken care of.
Now we understand that coffee is not a necessity like the lumber was for an early community, but we do believe in the concept that a business has a responsibility to the community is the same no matter the product that they sell. It is, from our perspective, just how business is supposed to work. So we take pride in the fact that the Local Mountain Enterprise Group makes a concerted effort to make a portion of every dollar spent at our establishment become an investment back to the community.
Below you will see a list of some of the groups we have supported.
